Meaning- Republic day is the day when our constitution was applied in India. Also, it is now celebrated as a national holiday in India as Republic day.

It’s our 69th Republic day of India. The Indian constituent assembly adopted the constitution on 20th November 1949 and it came into effect on 26 January 1950.

Indian constitution is the longest constitution in the world because it contains very uniqueness. It has 25 parts containing 448 articles and 12 schedules. This constitution was originally handwritten by Prem Behari Narain Raizada with his pleasing skill of calligrapher.

Apart from this, Shantiniketan’s artists decorated each page of the Indian constitution. 283 members of the constitution assembly signed the constitution of India.

On the Occasion of the Republic day, a big event is organized by the government of India. In the presence of President of India, a big and huge parade is held in the national capital of India at Rajpath as Republic Day parade. The parade performed India’s defense capability, power, army, culture, and heritage. At this day every Indian should take an Oath to make this country very peaceful and developed.

Every year Republic Day is celebrated with great pomp, enthusiasm, and glory. This is the day of a pride of each and every Indian.

Speech 1

A very Good Morning to My Principal, My Teachers, and My Dear Friends, My name is……. and I read in ….class.
Today we are gathered here for a very special occasion of our nation called as Republic Day as we all know that.

So basically today I am here to presenting a Republic Day speech. First of all, I would like to say a lot of thanks to my teacher as just because of her I have got such a beautiful and wonderful opportunity in my school to come on this stage and speak something about my country on this great and auspicious occasion of Republic Day.

Before starting this celebration first of all our chief guest of the Republic day hosts the national flag of India. Then we together stand up on our feet and sing our national anthem and give respect to our nation which is a symbol of unity and peace of India.

We celebrate Republic Day on 26 January as the Indian constitution came into force at this in 1950. India got Independence from the British rule on 15th of August in 1947 which we celebrate as Independence Day. However, on 26th January since 1950. We celebrate as Republic Day every year. At republic day celebration, a big arrangement takes place by the government of India in New Delhi at Rajpath in front of the India Gate.

This is 2018 and today we are here to celebrating a 69th Republic day of our nation. This is a great and auspicious occasion for all of us. we are celebrating Republic day every year with losts of joy and happiness.

As well as Indian Army do republic day parade and take the salute of the National Flag. There is also a big exhibition of the Indian culture and tradition takes place in the different Indian states to show the Unity in Diversity in India.

I would like to say Good Morning to My Respected Principal, Sir, Madam and my dear colleagues. As we all know that we get together here to celebrate 67th Republic Day of our nation.

This is a very auspicious occasion for all of us. Since 1950, we are celebrating Republic Day every year with lots of joy and happiness. Before starting the celebration, our chief guest of the Republic Day hoists the national flag of India. Then we all stand up and sing our Indian national anthem which is a symbol unity and peace in India.

Our National Anthem is written by the great poet “Rabindranath Tagore”.

Our national flag has three colors and a wheel in the center with 24 equal stacks. All the three colors of our Indian National Flag have some meaning. The top saffron color of our flag denotes the strength and courage of our country. The middle white color indicates peace, however, lower green color indicates the growth and prosperity. There is a navy blue wheel in the center having 24 equal spokes indicating Dharma Chakra of the great king Ashoka.

We celebrate republic day on 26 January as the Indian constitution came into force at this day in 1950. At republic day celebration, a big arrangement takes place by the government of India in New Delhi at Rajpath in front of the India Gate. Every year, a chief guest (prime minister of other countries) is invited to fulfill the purpose of saying “Atithi Devo Bhava” as well as enhance the glory of the occasion. Indian army do republic day parade and take the salute of the National Flag. There is also a big exhibition of the Indian culture and tradition takes place in the different Indian states to show the Unity in Diversity in India.

Article – 1

India became a Sovereign, Democratic and Republic state when the Indian Constitution came into force on 26thof January in 1950. India celebrates the memories of being a republican country on Republic Day every year. Indian President becomes the guest of honor at this day.

It is the day when Salute of 21 guns is given after unfurling of the Indian National Flag by the President. Indian Citizens celebrated this occasion with lots of enthusiasm and on this day in short there is a holiday in the whole country. Indian National Flag has a tricolor band (upper saffron, middle white and lower dark green in equal proportion). Middle white band has a navy-blue wheel with 24 spokes representing the Ashok Chakra. All the three colors of Indian Flag reveal different meaning (top saffron – strength and courage, middle white – peace and truth and lower green – fertility, growth, and auspiciousness of a country).


Article – 2

India commemorates the occurrence of its constitution into effect (in 1950 on 26th of January) on Republic Day. It is celebrated annually by the people all over the country. After the independence of India, the process of drafting Indian constitution was started. The Indian Constitution was adopted on 26th of November in 1949 by the Constituent Assembly, however, came into force two months later.

After implementing the democratic government system in India, it truly became a republic country. Mainly the republic day celebration takes place in the national capital, New Delhi in the presence of the president of India. A Republic Day parade is also performed at Rajpath to honor the Indian Flag and great soldiers who died to protect their country. India is a cultural and traditional country and It follows the culture of “Atithi Devo Bhava”. So, India invites a chief guest from another country every year at Republic Day celebration.


Article – 3

Republic day also called 26 January which is celebrated every year as this day is of great importance for every Indian. Because at this day India was declared as the republic country as well as the constitution of India came into force after the independence of long years of struggle. India got independence on 15th of August in 1947 and two and half years later it became the Democratic Republic.

It was appointed to the Drafting Committee to draft a permanent constitution of India at the meeting on 28th of August in 1947. Apart from this Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was the chairman of Drafting Committee who took responsibilities and submitted the constitution of India to the Assembly on 4th of November in 1947, however, it took years to get enforced on 26th of January in 1950 to honor the pledge of “PURNA SWARAJ”.

Republic day is the national holiday in India when people celebrate this great day of honor in their own way by seeing news, speech at schools or get participated in quiz competitions related to freedom of India. At this day a big event gets organized by the Government of India at the Rajpath, New Delhi where a parade takes place by the India army in front of the India Gate in the presence of President of India after unfolding the India Flag and singing National Anthem.


Article – 4

India was a slave country before 1947 by the British Rule for many years. However, after many years of hard struggle of freedom fighters, finally, India achieved independence in 1947 on 15th of August from British rule. After achieving Independence, India formed and implemented its own constitution as well as declared itself as the Republic of India. Earlier, just after the Independence, India did not have any permanent constitution. However, later in 1947 on 28th of August, a Drafting Committee was allotted in order to make a permanent constitution of India.

Moreover, The chairman of Drafting Committee was Dr. B. R. Ambedkar who successfully had drafted the Indian Constitution. India celebrates its freedom from British Rule as Independence Day (15th of August, annually) and remembers its constitution implementation as Republic Day (26th of January, annually).
